My Vision

Quality, Integrity and Experience

  • As the daughter of two university professors, I believe in the ability of higher education to improve the lives of all.
  • As an alumna of U-M’s undergraduate and medical schools, I know the unique value of a Michigan education.
  • During my term as Regent, I strived to ensure that U-M was a place where every student could find opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.

“Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.”

ALWAYS AT WORK

  • During my term as Regent, I strived to ensure that U-M was a place where every student could find opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed.
  • I was committed to attaining excellence in academic programs, improving access and affordability, executing a three-campus strategy with focused investments in the Flint and Dearborn campuses, fostering an inclusive campus culture that protects our community from discrimination and sexual misconduct, investing in technologies to help our future, and supporting a healthcare system structured to comprehensively serve the needs of our state and region.
  • I also was — and continue to be — a fierce advocate for collective bargaining to help secure fair pay and equal treatment for everyone from student workers to nurses to lecturers to staff.
